Today we are going over some ways on how to acquire cheap washing machines. If you have read my other articles on this page you may have an idea of some of the cheaper brands. Frigidaire is probably on the lower end of the totem poll, but the quality is somewhat iffy. Personally I wouldn’t buy one, but that choice is up to you. However, all brands do offer a lower end model, but perhaps they still aren’t cheap enough for you.
Scratch and dent
A great way to get some affordable washing machines is to go to your local scratch and dent store. Scratch and dent are brand-new, but they just have a few dings or dents in them so the manufacturer cannot sell them at retail prices. What this means for you is you get brand-new, cheap washing machines at a used price. This is a great deal in my opinion.
Buy Cheap Washing Machines Used
Of course you can always go down the route of buying used washing machines. Just because they are used does not mean there are’nt dependable. In the store I work at, we offer a one-year warranty on all used appliances. Most appliance stores will offer the same thing. In my opinion the older models are built a little bit higher quality than the ones are now. Also, I do not like all the new digital displays as they are easily burnt out.
Buying Cheap Washing Machines online
Another great way to acquire good washing machines is to purchase them online. There are a lot of websites out there that offer quality brand-new machines at discounted prices. You should always do your research, and purchase from a proven reputable dealer.
Buying floor models
Another great way to purchase cheap washing machines is to buy last year’s models off the floor. Most retailers will sell you a floor model for discounted price if it is the last one available. This is a great way to save several hundred dollars off of the price tag.

Top Loading Washing Machines
Today we will go over some top loading washing machines. I will review a few brands and help you make a decision. There are a few very good brands out there that include Maytag, GE, Kenmore, Whirlpool, LG and some of the Frigidaire washing machines are all right.As a washing machine technician, I can tell you there are some brands that are better than others, and some models that are just plain junk.
Top Loading Washing Machines – Maytag washing machines
I haven’t had to service many Maytag washing machines, especially not the top loaders. This could be because they are not as popular or like the commercial says they are very dependable. Personally I think they are very dependable, not many of the parts go out. Usually when I go out on repair calls, it tends to be either a Kenmore or Frigidaire model. I definitely recommend the top loading washing machines because they aren’t as expensive to repair, easier to work with, and you don’t need a special technician to come out and fix them. However, you can still get a top loader if you really want to. Normally you need to use special soap, or you can do what I do and just use half of a normal scoop, that you would use for top loading washing machines. I won’t go over too much for Maytag because I already have in my last post.
Top Loading Washing Machines – Kenmore
Kenmore is another brand that is pretty dependable. Yes they have their occasional breakdowns, but what brand doesn’t. Their customer service is pretty good, especially if you buy them from Sears. They are very easy to repair, and the parts are not that expensive. Overall my customers are pretty satisfied with the Kenmore brand.
Frigidaire
Personally, I don’t care much for Frigidaire. Most people buy them because they are usually cheaper. I find that they tend to go out a lot, and are made of poor quality. In the long run you end up paying more in repairs after your warranty is over with, then you would buying a more expensive brand. However, if you feel you must buy a Frigidaire, make sure you do not buy a front loading washing machines with a digital display. This is because the boards tend to go out a lot, and they are not cheap. Make sure you buy the extended warranty also, and buy from a reputable company who stand by their products.
LG
LG in my opinion, is the big daddy of them all. There are a lot more responsive than the other brands, but for good reason. I can’t think of a single thing that they make that is not of high quality. Their products are well worth the money spent. Customer support is superb, and the value you get for the money just cannot be beaten. They are a company from South Korea, and have several good options. They have an Allergien cycle that helps get rid of mites and pet dander from a load, and they claim to use real steam for washing.
GE
GE has many top loading washing machines. They are also increasing their front loaders, plus adding a technology they like to call “smart dispense” they have several options to choose from.
Samsung
Samsung is relatively new to the appliance game. They have introduced a full line of products with a price range approximately from $800-$1600. They also have a steam cleaning option, and they’re known mostly for their use of silver for cleaning and their vibration reduction technology in its top line washing machines.
Whirlpool Top Loading Washing Machines
Whirlpool has several lines: the Whirlpool duet sport HT, Whirlpool duet sport, Whirlpool duet HT, and several others. Whirlpool has plans to advance their steam technologies and to produce more models. They’re also known mostly for their wide range of options and features.
